The Cleveland Browns Round Up

April 1st 2010 14:06
The Cleveland Browns

1. Brady Quinn is gone and was bound to happen. Derek Anderson is also gone. Anderson can be compared to Kerry Collins in that he gets a big contract, then fails to live up to it. They go for Delhomme and Wallace. Having not seen much of Wallace, it's hard to say what will happen.

2. Going back to point one, it is not the worst decision they have ever made. You have to wonder about the mistakes over the years since the return of the Browns. Click here for some thoughts on that. There have been far too many errors and it makes you wonder what the state of this franchise is.

3. Gotta trust Holmgren and Heckert to get this one right. At least, there's more people to give out some serious input regarding how to improve the Browns. At least, Mangini isn't doing everything by himself thankfully. You saw how that worked last year and why it won't this year.

4. The draft is going to be a major guessing game. Trading up for Bradford would be risky. Consider this thought: he has been hit on the shoulder a few times in college. If he is like that in college, how will he handle the pros? It could be like Chad Pennington. Besides, that'd be a lot of money to spend on someone and it's a big risk. I see them going for a Quarterback later in the draft.

5. They need some defense. Without it, teams are going to run them over without question. That is an area that needs improvement as well as offense. I say, before drafting day, get what you can on the free agency as far as players that will fit in and go from there. Then, draft anything else that would be necessary.

6. The Quarterback that is picked had best be the franchise player that they desperately need. They've had enough failures as the starting Quarterback.

7. If the Browns are off to a bad start, expect Mangini fired. As far as they who they bring in, I don't know. Personally, I don't want Jim Zorn as the next coach or Holmgren doing too much. At the same time, if they don't have a better coach in mind, is it really a good idea to make the change? You don't change for the sake of changing.

8. At least Randy Lerner is not the de facto President of the Browns. He hired someone with football knowledge, something of which he does not have. It happens and there are owners who are not good with the sport but hire those that know it.
