Thoughts on Dr. Death

June 15th 2010 20:41
Many months ago I wrote an article about Dr. Death Steve Williams. As you probably all ready know, he is no longer alive losing his battle to cancer. You can click here to view it and give some thoughts on it. I will be upfront and admit I remember him mostly from his WWF/E run.

His most infamous moment was the Brawl for All, which many thought he was going to win the competition. That didn't happen and Bart Gunn would claim victory. Had he actually won the competition, he probably would have received a Main Event push going up against Stone Cold Steve Austin for the championship. I dare say he might have actually had a run with the gold.

He later went to WCW and didn't really seem to last long. They had him go with Oklahoma, one of the most insulting parodies of Jim Ross at that time.

I do wish I had seen more of him but it's just a shame that he is no longer alive. Will he inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame? Well, you never know for sure. I'm sure it will happen at some point but as far as when, that's anybody's guess.

It's short and sweet but I'll probably post up some thoughts on upcoming events in the wrestling world mainly with WWE and TNA. I'd cover ROH and others but I'm not familiar with them honestly.

Reboot to the Blog

June 1st 2010 17:19
I've decided that after careful consideration to actually change the blog. It's going to be a reboot into something else instead of going on to something that I don't particularly care for and it will be more with wrestling. I don't have much in the independent wrestling world because I'm not honestly familiar with them. Mostly, it can be WWE and TNA but I'll try to post as often as possible.

Anyone who wants to join can write about whatever they want wrestling wise. Maybe it would be nice to have someone who knows independent wrestling very well but not required.

This is the last one even talking about them because it gets redundant. Final thoughts on each Cleveland team in general. I'm going to perhaps take a more general view on everything.

Cavs: They have no heart. They play when they want to. Expect changes for the worst. LeBron is not the player everyone makes him out to be. He's no leader because he doesn't want to lead by example. If you're going to be the MVP and labeled the best player, you've got to play better than what you've done. I would compare them to the Dallas Mavericks. Maybe if they can get Dirk here, ah who am I kidding, it wouldn't work anymore. As long as they remain in Cleveland, they'll never win a championship. 2007 trip to the NBA Finals is going to be as good as it's going to get.

Indians: Should be contending every year for the AL Central but scared of Minnesota now apparently. Detroit strikes fear in them. 1997 was their last chance at winning it all and they will never reach that point. They have shown that this team doesn't care about building a winner. I feel it's a plot to drive the Indians out of Cleveland. The Dolans do not seem to care about winning but that's a perception. As far as 2007 goes, it's not good enough to get close. Contending once every five years is unacceptable. No wonder they can't sell out anymore.

Browns: There just isn't much to say. At least they are trying but failing miserably. Haven't been good in a while. I don't think they'll ever be good. Not good enough to get to a Super Bowl or even for that matter be a playoff team.

The city is cursed due to the sins of the past. Previous Cleveland sports owners of the respective teams have committed cardinal sins that have ruined them and the fan base forever more. The Indians had Trader Lane, who still haunts them to this very day. The Browns have Art Modell or Paul Brown depending on who you believe haunting them. If you count the Browns as one whole entity, then after Paul Brown's departure, they got one title and since then hasn't done much of anything. The Cavaliers had Ted Stepien, though in fairness he didn't last long as an owner. Maybe it's just the Browns that has a huge affect on every major Cleveland team.

The only hope for a Cleveland team to win anything would be in a minor league that hardly anyone cares about.

It Was Just Too Good To Be True

May 4th 2010 16:34
It looks like the end of the line will happen. It's just another case of Cleveland being Cleveland. They lose this series, then maybe it's time to just remove all Cleveland teams. The Browns will never win a Super Bowl. The Indians are too busy trying to be a minor league team. The Cavaliers are just choking. Is it time to panic? When they lose, it's always panic time but not anymore. If they win it all, great but I'm not going to be around on this one to watch or care.

Going to the Cavs, no matter what they do, they'll never win it all. LeBron James is going to be another Karl Malone, Charles Barkley, or even a Patrick Ewing as guys who had great careers but could never win the big one. I think the players are quitting on Mike Brown. Look at the effort in Game 2. They are 8-0 in winning the first game in a playoff series. The stat doesn't lie on that.

The post-season has begun. They beat the Bulls in the first two games. Last night, they blew it against them making it now a 2-1 Cavaliers lead in the post-season. The big focus was the lack of defense and the lack of free throw shooting. This has been a problem from the beginning of the season. We all knew Shaq wasn't one that could be counted on for free throws.

Those who want Mike Brown fired, be careful what you wish for, you just might get it. The next coach will probably be some mediocre coach that will fail here and they may never see anything close to this again. Remember, they could wind up with a coach like Randy Wittman, who proved he couldn't be a head coach with losing seasons with Cleveland and later Minnesota. Remember the path the Indians after Mike Hargrove got fired? How many World Series appearances have they made since? The most anyway claims is within one game and that's just not acceptable. I'll stand by this until I'm proven wrong and they win.

The Cleveland Browns Round Up

April 1st 2010 14:06
The Cleveland Browns

1. Brady Quinn is gone and was bound to happen. Derek Anderson is also gone. Anderson can be compared to Kerry Collins in that he gets a big contract, then fails to live up to it. They go for Delhomme and Wallace. Having not seen much of Wallace, it's hard to say what will happen.

The Cavaliers
1. Shaq being out and so far not a huge problem. They will need him in the regular season as they will Z if they can just get him back. The only thing left is to figure out who gets the ax. If I had to guess, it's going to be Darnell Jackson. He doesn't really play much and there's only so many minutes to go around.

The Cleveland Cavaliers acquired Jamison in exchange for Z. It is going to be unknown about him returning. All ready, the impact seems to be felt and there has to be yet another adjustment period. There is this thought that it was done because of LeBron and that can be believed. However, might as well say it, I don't think they're going to win the title. In fact, I don't see a Cleveland team ever winning a championship. As soon as they fix one problem, another arises. Since this is about the Cavs, this is probably going to be a wild guess and nothing more. I'm not claiming to know they won't win but more of a feeling that something is going to happen.

The defense has been playing horribly. There is just no getting around it. For them to even have a better chance, it has to get back in sync and get it together. They are not a run and gun team. That style will never win an NBA Title. They've had some games where they can shoot no problem but the defense has been horrible. You can talk about improving it but until it happens, nothing is going to be done about it.

The Cleveland Cavaliers are 38-11 and have run a gauntlet of facing opponents with many back-to-back games early in the season. They have survived it all despite losing for a period of time Jamario Moon, and recently lost both Mo Williams and Delonte West. For the Cavs to keep winning despite some of the losses is a sign that perhaps maybe they are more dangerous than anyone could have imagined or predicted.

Rumors have been around surrounding of the thought of trading Z to another team. Well, on one hand, you can see the thought because of last season when really nobody wanted Wally and wasn't exactly jumping at the thought of taking him. On the other hand, they are doing well at this point in time and don't seem to be slowing down and can be a case of being able to defeat who they couldn't last year being the Magic and Lakers.
